Avandia May Increase Risk For Heart Problems

According to a scientist from the Food and Drug Administration, Avandia, a popular drug used by diabetic patients, should no longer be sold due to the risks patients take by using this drug. Not only does the drug put patients at risk for heart conditions, but it also has been proven not to be too effective when it comes to the control of diabetes and  fighting against things such as unhealthy blood sugar levels.

Scientist Dr. David Graham distributed a document with these facts to a panel of outside experts during a meeting. The meeting was being held to determine what steps should be taken regarding Avandia, and if it should be removed from the market all together.

Glaxo officials, however, deny the fact that Avandia increases heart risks in patients. Currently, there are approximately 1 million Americans taking Avandia to control their  Type 2 diabetes. The drug is still available.

Unfortunately, drug recalls don't always happen as soon as they should and somebody may  get hurt before they are recalled. If you or someone you know feel that an injury has occurred due to taking  Avandia, it is important to contact a Drug Litigation lawyer today.

Every Single Drug That Affects The Body Will Have Some Side Effects

Since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers both the benefits and risks of all medications before approval, side effects are generally not serious. For every drug FDA approves, the benefits are balanced against its risks.
